Jamie Syme

As a youngster Jamie’s love of sport meant that you were far more likely to find him in the swimming pool than in the classroom. So it is perhaps no surprise that his career path has led him to training individuals in methods of fitness as opposed to working as an astronaut, a doctor or perhaps even as a math’s teacher.

It is through this early career as a swimmer that Jamie developed the discipline required to spend hours training before and after school, and this eventually led to national selection. However, he quickly realised that his sporting future lay out of the pool, and on the rugby field.  Some might call Jamie a fish out of water in many respects (or a complete oddball) but when it comes to sport, and rugby especially, he realised he would have to work harder than others (something he never quite managed whilst at school) in order to become bigger physically on the field, and also off it where the constant beatings from his bigger brother (named appropriately ‘The Hurter’).  This began Jamie’s love affair with weight training which led to representative rugby via the district and national age group set up, and for the past decade has seen him a man in demand from various Premier league Scottish rugby clubs (it is unclear if this is in fact due to his rugby ability, or the fact he enjoys leading the entertainment off the pitch and in the showers).  He has also played Senior and Provincial rugby in both New Zealand and Australia.

Having trained in sports massage and worked with the likes of Leicester Rugby Club, the New Zealand All Blacks, Japan Rugby and Dundee Football Club, his lack of success with the opposite sex began to frustrate his wandering hands and he then decided that he wanted to add personal training to his repertoire. For the past few years Jamie has been busy turning cubs into lions, hippo’s into racehorses and water into wine.
